CHURCH OF THE APOSTLES is a young, emerging, Episcopal and Lutheran mission congregation, started in 2002. We refer to ourselves as 'an intentional, sacramental community in the way of Jesus Christ,' because in the story of Jesus, we have glimpsed God's future and know that "thiscouldchangeeverything." So our purpose is to to helpgodchangeeverything by participating in God's future within today's culture and our local zipcode, living and serving in intentional, sacramental community in the way of Jesus Christ.
The future is not something we manufacture, and community is not something we can coerce you into, but both are works of the Spirit to which God calls.
So as God calls you, we welcome you to join us in helpinggodchangeeverything,
exploring God's future and serving God's mission among friends.
CHURCH OF THE APOSTLES is affiliated with God the Father, in the way of Jesus Christ, and in the power of the Spirit.
We share a spiritual kinship with all those who affirm the most ancient Christian confession "Jesus is Lord." within the larger Christian village, we are part of the Anglican and Lutheran tribes.
Our Anglican tribe is the Episcopal Church, and our Lutheran tribe is the ELCA. Our local judicatories are the Diocese of Olympia (Episcopal) and the Northwest Washington synod (Lutheran). Our emerging church affinity is with the Northwest Hothouse.
A summary of our beliefs is the ancient Nicene Creed (circa 325 A.D). We hold this creed in common with the majority of Christian tribes (Protestant, Roman Catholic & Eastern Orthodox) from around the globe and across the ages.

in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
we believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, light from light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
through him all things were made.
for us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
for our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
on the third day he rose again
in accordance with the scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father (and the son).
with the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
he has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.
we acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
we look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
